Apart from His blood, a form of “church” could continue, religion could thrive, movements could come and go, but the glory that is being revealed and going to be revealed through the church of Jesus Christ is inseparable from His blood. There is no glory apart from the blood of Jesus. As we live in Him, the glory lives in and through us. As Jesus glorified the Father, the Father glorified Him. They are discovering the glories of a supernatural life walk with Jesus where the kingdom of Heaven expresses itself. Ransomed sinners have become sons, and many “religious sons,” those who for a multitude of reasons have struggled with the bondages of legalism and religion, are finding freedom in Christ. And this work that He has started in us and promises to continue stands on the same foundation. Our entire relationship with Him is due to who He is and what He has done for us. Jesus-His nature, death, and resurrection are the cornerstone of our faith. But now, through the blood of Christ, you who were once outside the pale are with us inside the circle of God’s love and purpose. You had nothing to look forward to and no God to whom you could turn. Blood had to be shed to deal with the penalty of sin. In Leviticus 11 God explains that the life is in the blood. An Olympic swimming pool holds about 2,500,000 liters, so that gives you an idea. Notwithstanding that the whole quantity from each animal would not have spilled, the slaughter of 22,000 bulls would equate to something in the region of 990,000 liters or 218,000 gallons of blood. The regulations handed down to men via appointed ministers such as Moses and Aaron were that these sacrifices were to be made to atone for the people. The question pounding my senses is this: Just how important is blood? If, as we read in Leviticus 9, the sacrifice of five animals resulted in a blood-soaked chamber, where does our imagination even begin to go with numbers such as these? ON OTHER OCCASIONS in the Bible we read that vast numbers of animals were slaughtered in sacrifices at festivals, celebrations, and at feasts.
